How old are you

If you awoke one morning, and did not know what year you were born in-( No you cant ask your mother), how old would you be?
The preconceived notion of age vs responsibility is highly misplaced. Would you be 20? 30? or 80? or somewhere in between. Would you finally take those chances you always wished you had, but of course the voice in your head said..."You are too old for that! "
Age is the greatest form of control that a society can hold. Your behaviors and responsibilities are all supposedly tied to age. Why cant you drive at 14? Drink at 15--legally? Are you really too tired to stay out all night at 50, and watch the sun come up as you walk up your front steps? Or is it because you are expected NOT to?
Why is it that after adolescence the majority of us forget how to play? I truly mean play, not the twist to the word that means hey babe--wanna plaaaaay? Why is it so strange to see adults actually laughing in public? As a corollary why are we so amazed when a kid says something profound?
What would you do if you could be any age? There really is nothing stopping anyone from doing as they please, except of course the "age thing". I truly believe that the phrase 'S/he should know better at her/his age"should be blasted from consciousness.
Then again, I also really really abhor the trite pseudo psych self help gremlins who proclaim..age is only a number. To me that has always sounded like an apology.
Better yet, forget about the numbers, and just be.

Good blogs Sandra. Love to see you out here doing your thing. Totally agree with your comments here. Why not do what you 'feel' is right? The only limit being to "not hurt anyone"and by that I of course am not referring to their sensitivities.
